Do you remember the Disney 'Frozen' movie craze? That time when little kids were singing the lyrics to "Let it Go" on every playground and inside every store, every single time you turned around? Yeah, we basically missed the boat on that one. We watched the movie ONE time when it came out, and that's... Continue Reading →
When you don’t want to share with your brother.
"It's a special deal we have on right now. If you spend $75 on Star Wars Lego you get this limited edition rare and super hard to find Darth Vader pod for FREE!" We heard the words of the sweet sales lady on the other side of the counter and wanted to take her up... Continue Reading →
Don’t stop repeating…
“I don’t get why we have to do this dumb school Mom. This typing program is the worst.” I’ve heard that same repetitive speech every day from him since we started that typing program last spring. He hates that it often feels difficult and relentless and that it takes so long to complete each level.... Continue Reading →
From Shaking Rattles to Nerf Gun Battles
Our first baby. There was no Lego for him to swallow in the house yet; no tiny toys for him to accidentally ‘find’ and put into his mouth. The privilege of every first born I suppose. I would sit next to him on our ‘OK to spit up on this’ protective blanket that was on the corner of our living room rug. It was the pre-crawling sitting era of babyhood. The era where your baby stayed where you set him down.
When you don’t make it to the pumpkin patch…
We didn't make it to the pumpkin patch this year. We have no pumpkin filled photos with the far stretching fields or fond memories of traipsing through mud, petting farm animals, or enjoying a hayride. I'm happy for every last one of you who DID end up there this year, and I hope to join... Continue Reading →
Hanging up the grumpy socks.
"It's time to go guys! Socks on, pants on, shoes on, coats on, meet me by the door!" This phrase is always followed by a frantic flurry of four little boys and their flying shoes, socks, and pants. Always. Upon return from the great 'outside of our apartment' expedition, all 'outdoor' clothes are promptly removed... Continue Reading →
“What’s on the wall?”
I was barely pregnant with my first son when my friend came to visit with her little girl. I watched that sweet little toddler dip her hands in the BBQ chip bag on my kitchen counter. She then shoved the chips in her mouth, licked her fingers, and then began walking down my stairwell from... Continue Reading →
And so I started Reading
"I just don't know what to do!" My husband stood above me in the darkness as I lay in a crumpled heap on the floor next to my previously crying baby who was now staring at us with huge wide awake bug eyes. "How can I help you?" he quietly said. Future husbands of all... Continue Reading →
A Boy and his Blanket
With every baby, I would carefully select a blanket and a stuffy in the hopes that they would become attached to it. There was a lot of "Here, hold this... you love this... it's so cute and soft and snuggly!! Just let it soothe you... please..."
Have you tried resetting it?
"My phone is being so weird... like every time I open this app it crashes and the screen turns black..." I held my iPhone out towards my husband with a facial expression of, 'You know how to fix this don't you... obviously... since you bought and set up all of our other things with the...
